What guy was the best dressed at the Oscars?

First, let’s give the guys props for getting it right this year.  Most guys wore black tuxedos, white shirts, black bow or windsor ties.  Classicly perfect.

Those getting honored, occasionally stepped it up with a splash of color…which is acceptable in my opinion if you were nominated for an award…it could be their night, after all, and that’s what “black tie” is all about…honoring someone…who is allowed to look special…

So, without further adieu, our Best Dressed Award goes to Jake Gyllenhaal.

2B Peak, real bow tie, and french fly (covered placket) shirt, & white square-he got it perfectly!

Honorable Mentions go to Tyler Perry, Collin Firth, and Ryan Reynolds.

Tyler Perry- 2B Notch...simple elegance; Colin Firth- 2B Peak + white square...complete; Ryan Reynolds- 1B Peak...perfect for the athletic build.

A new category…our Most Improved Award goes to Quentin Tarantino.  (You might recall, Quentin earned a “worst dressed” award at the recent Golden Globe Awards.

Velvet Dinner Jacket, black tie...not perfect...but what an improvement!

Another new category…Most Creative goes to James Cameron.

Nominated for Best Picture entitles James to be creative...which he was with a blue square to match his wife's gown. Nice job!

And finally…the Worst Dressed Award is a toss up between Jesse James and Robert Downey.

Downey was not nominated (not sure I understand that decision...I thought he did a pretty good job with Sherlock Holmes)...but as a guest, he had no right wearing a blue tie, blue sunglasses, and sneakers! As Steve Martin said "Who doesn't love Sandra Bullock?"...but couldn't her husband step it up on a night his wife ultimately won Best Actress? All he needed was a white shirt!
